Abu Lahab’s great opportunity
Dr. Gary MILLER
(Ex-Priest and Mathematics Professor)
The al-Masad Sourah [111] explains that Abu Lahab bin Abdoulmuttalib will not convert to Islam and for this will go to the fire. But after sending this sourah he should do the following in 10 years:
“I’d heard that a Sourah is inspired to Mohammad (p.b.u.h.), in which it told that I’ll never be a muslim and for this I’ll go to the fire. But I’m just converting to Islam. Would you like this? What do you think about this (inspiration)?”
But he did not do this. This was normal behavior from a person, who was against Islam forever. It seems so, as Mohammad says:
“You hate me and you will destroy me. Here are the words for this (words of faith). Say it!”
But Abu Lahab did not say these words during the 10 years. Beside, he did not have any interest in Islam. If Mohammad were not the real messenger of Allah, how could he be so sure that the Quran would recognize the prophecy of Abu Lahab? How could the prophet give fearlessly the opportunity to one of the greatest enemys of Islam to deny the message? There is only one answer: He is the messenger of Allah. For to be sure of this dangerous challenge, he had to trust absolutely to the inspiration of Allah.
