According to the Quran, why do we have to fast?

To explain the reason why Muslims fast (Siyam) there is a lot of wisdom such as to be hungry, to feel empathy for people in need, to be more healthy etc. According to the Quran there are two reasons why Muslims fast:

* To fulfill the belief [Iman] (al-Baqara 2:183).
* Reach responsibility/sensitivity [Taqwa] (al-Baqara 2:183, 187).
* Be thankful [Shukr] (al-Baqara 2:185).
