The Ahadith about al-ʿAshara al-Mubashshara are in contradiction with the Quran!
al-ʿAshara al-Mubashshara, means ten early Muslims to whom the prophet Muhammad had promised Paradise. There are different lists of people who are promised this paradise.
According to one source, these people are:
Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, Zubayr, Abdurrahman ibn Avf, Sa’d ibn Abi Vaqqas, Said ibn Zayd and Abu Ubayda ibn al-Jarrah.
In another narration there is Abdullah ibn Masud instead of Abu Ubayda ibn al-Jarrah (Ibn Abdulbar, al-ıstiab, II, 318; Abdullah Aydinli, Ismail Lütfi Cakan, “Asere-i Mubessere,” Diyanet Encyclopedia of Islam, III, 547).
However, when we look at the Quran, it is not possible for such a thing to happen. It is out of the question that the Messenger of Allah, who was ordered to say this. “I don’t know what to do with me or you…” (al-Ahqaf [46] 9) and stated that he did not know the al-Ghaib [unseen] (al-Araf [7] 188), would guarantee Paradise to some people!
Note: In the verse “Indeed, Allah is pleased with those who pledged allegiance to you under that tree…” in surah al-Fath [48] 18, there is no information that there are only 10 people. Allah is pleased with that behavior of those believers, that is, their allegiance. Otherwise, this state of consent does not apply to all the behavior they will do throughout their lives. As the test continues, it is not clear what a person will do tomorrow.
