How Should Muslims React to Disrespect and Insults against the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad?
There were insults and disrespect against the Quran and the Prophet in olden times, and they will still be there in the future. Such ruthlessness can never decrease the value of Islam. The Quran teaches Muslims how to behave in such difficult situations. It should not be forgotten that especially choleric or violent actions is behaviour that the Quran doesn’t approve of.
Invite to Islam with wisdom, good advice (Quran) and debate them in a manner that is the best. (an-Nahl 16:125).
Repel to evil with good! (Fussilat 41:34).
Turn away from the ignorant. (al-A’raf 7:199).
If the ignorant behave insolently towards you, say ‘peace’ and pass by. (al-Furqan 25:63).
If you hear hurtful things be patient and stay with responsibility (Taqwah). (Al-Imran 3:186).
Move from places where the Quran is denied, disbelieved or derided.
If this negativity disappears turn back. (an-Nisa 4:140 and al-Anam 6:68).
(The verses about Fitnah in al-Anfal 8:39 and al-Baqarah 2:193 deal only with difficult tests in war).
