What is the meaning of Islam?
The Arabic word Islam الاسلام is derived from these words:
Silm سلم : Peace (al-Baqara [2] 208).
Taslim تسليم : Unconditional surrendering to Allah’s principles (al-Baqara [2] 112, 131).
Salama سلامة : Eternal salvation (Al Imran [3] 104).
Using these three terms, one could state the following:
Islam is a way of life which requests unconditional surrendering to Allah’s principles (taslim) to get peace on earth (silm) and eternal salvation (salama) in the hereafter.
