Jesus couldn’t have beenborn in winter!
According to the New Testament Jesus couldn’t have been born in winter. Around the time of Jesus’s birth his parents came to Bethlehem for a Roman census on order from the Roman Emperor Augustus.
For the census the people had to be in their own towns. For this the census couldn’t have been in winter, when temperatures often dropped below freezing and roads were in poor condition. After Jesus’s parents arrived, Mary brought her son to the world (Luke 2:1-4).
During Jesus’s birth the shepherds were in the fields watching their flocks (Luke 2:7-8). The shepherds had to stay with their sheep in stables in winter. According to the Quran Jesus couldn’t have been born in winter. Mary (Maryam) was told during the birth of Jesus (Isa): “And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, and it will drop fresh dates by you.” (Maryam 19:25). The season for fresh dates is summer and autumn, but not winter.
Therefore according to the New Testament and the Quran Jesus could not have been born in winter!
