Are there More Women in Hell than Men? No
The situation of people in Hell is a matter of the al-Ghayb (unseen). al-Ghayb means the sphere of knowledge about which one cannot obtain information with the mind and senses. The unknown that was revealed to the Prophet is what is in the Quran (Hud [11] 25-49).
It is claimed that the Prophet said that most people in Hell are women. However, this statement contradicts the Quran. The Messenger did not know anything other than what was revealed to him (al-Araf [7] 188). He was also commanded to say, “…I do not know what will be done to you or to me…” (al-Ahqaf [46] 9). According to these verses, it is not possible for the Messenger of Allah to have given any information about the proportion of those in Hell.
Moreover, there are hundreds of verses in the Quran about the afterlife. There are 268 verses mentioning Hell and the conditions for those who will go to Hell. However, these verses do not provide any information about the gender, number or proportion of people who will go to Hell.
Therefore, from a Quranic perspective, it is not possible to say that most of the inhabitants of Hell are women.
