Was Prophet Muhammad (as) a pedophile? No
According to the claims of atheists, Muhammad (as) was a pedophile. A pedophile is defined as someone who is sexually attracted to children who have not reached the age of puberty. The justification for this claim is the narration that he married Aisha, who was 6 years old, and that he got married when she was 9 years old (Bukhari, Nikah 39 (66), 40 (67).
However, this narration is definitely against the Quran. Because the Quran has set the following conditions for marriage:
It is not possible for Muhammad (as), who is obliged to follow the Quran (al-Anam [6] 50), to marry a young girl, contrary to these verses. But unfortunately, the traditions and narrations that emerged decades after the death of Muhammad (as) claim the opposite and show him as a pedophile.
As a result, the Quran never accepts the pedophile claim of Muhammad (as) put forward by the traditional understanding.
Note: Talaq [65] 4, brought as evidence for pedophilia. But this chapter is about divorce, not marriage. Mentioned in the verse are not children, but women who cannot menstruate (Secondary Amenorrhea).
The preposition lem لَمْ in the verse does not indicate “yet,” but only “negative.” The preposition lem in the verse is also used, for example, in the chapter of Ikhlas. There it is said for “lam yelid” that “he has not given birth,” but it is not said “he has not given birth yet.” Therefore, the verse does not refer to little girls who have not had their period yet, but to women who cannot get their period.
The correct translation of the relevant part of the verse is as follows:
“If you doubt those of your women who have stopped menstruating and those who do not, then their iddah [waiting period] is 3 months…”
