It’s an obligation to treat divorced women well
It is one of Allah’s commands to men that they have to treat their spouse well if they are getting divorced or are divorced. (Quran, al-Baqara 2:229, 231). Who mistreats women has exceeded one of Allah’s borders (Khudud-Allah). Exceeding Allah’s borders is a great sin. A man also cannot prevent his divorced former spouse from marrying another man (al-Baqara 2:232).
